Description of the research topic:

Recognizing the depletion of non-renewable resources and the difficulties of managing the generated wastes, a bio-based circular economy has come to the fore. Agricultural systems, utilizing photosynthesis for producing food and other raw materials, are essential part of these complex systems. However, their sustainability is under increasing pressure of population growth and climate change. In addition, their resilience is affected by shocks such as extreme weather or international crises. Accordingly, an efficient design and operation of these bio-based and advantageously circular systems requires a causally-right, process model-based overview, as well as the dynamic simulation-based analysis of various scenarios.
The objective of this PhD research is to analyze a dynamic process system, and to develop a solution for a practically important problem. The specific aim of an actual PhD topic is the dynamic model-based solution of a practically significant task, selected according to the interest of the PhD applicant. Typical problems may be the still actual quantitative tracing and tracking of trans-sectorial agri-food process networks or the analysis and optionally optimal planning of waste recycling processes to promote general and bio-based circular economy. More than one student may apply for a task within this framework topic.
