Description of the research topic:

Even though our knowledge of the biological background of tumors has substantially grown, there are still numerous unexplored questions in tumor biology. One such area is the unique behavior of stromal cells that are cooperating and interacting with tumor cells in the tumor microenvironment. Decoding the cellular dialogue between these cells, and identifying the key molecules involved in it, such as non-coding RNAs, mRNAs, cytokines, and the mechanisms modulated by them, holds enormous potential for diagnostic approaches and therapeutic purposes. During the doctoral work, we would like to explore the molecular details of this multi-directional relationship, focusing on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and ER stress resistance. We will also aim to develop and test a novel molecular diagnostic method that exploits some particular tumor-specific genetic differences.
