Description of the research topic:
Metropolitan regions play an increasingly important role in European territorial processes. The regional development policy of the European Union also assigns an increasingly important role to the cooperation of cities and their regions. The cities themselves have recognized the importance of cooperating with the surrounding settlements to assert their interests more effectively, especially in terms of economic development, public services and regional marketing. The purpose of the research is to examine the forms of appearance of the latest European trends in the field of metropolitan governance, with particular regard to domestic practice and cross-border forms of governance.
