Description of the research topic:

There is a growing demand for the use of wood, especially in the use of valuable wood that is resistant to biological pests and has high dimensional stability. Timber with such properties is usually slow-growing, so this need must be met from other sources. A good alternative to this is to modify wood with inherently less favorable physical-mechanical properties. Of the various methods, little attention has been paid so far to the use of biomaterials as modifiers. Impregnation with the bioextractives originating from forest byproducts (bark, leaves, cones, etc.) can significantly improve the durability against wood destroying fungi. An important task during this process is to solve the fixation of the bioextractives in the wood cell wall
