Description of the research topic:

For many family businesses, succession within the family is not feasible, which poses a significant challenge for business owners and, given the number of family businesses, can be seen as a serious problem for the national economy too. The level of professionalisation and preparedness of family businesses for a change of manager or owner varies considerably, which has a major impact on the success of the change of manager and the long-term performance of the business. This research aims to investigate this succession process and the challenges associated with preparing management succession.
