Description of the research topic:

Increasing the crop yield according to the needs of the growing population is one of the biggest challenges of agricultural production. Nowadays, the main means of complying with this is the use of different chemical fertilizers, which, in turn, can cause economic difficulties in addition to possible damage to nature, environmental protection and health. The nutrient utilization efficiency of plants is on average less than 30-50%, i.e. most of the applied nutrients are not utilized and are wasted. It is a natural need to select genotypes that produce a similar average yield despite the use of much less applied fertilizer. The main objective of the planned research is to determine the nutrient utilization efficiency of different plant genotypes (coordinated per student) and its relationship with photosynthetic activity under controlled and field conditions.
