Description of the research topic:

Improving the effectiveness and sustainability of agri-food systems is vital to dealing with the challenges of global population growth, rapid urbanisation, issues of food and environmental security. One of the major global challenges is secure and sustainable food production for the growing population of the world. The changing economic and environmental conditions require reliable production technologies that provide stable yields, together with economic efficiency and feasibility, for which the effectiveness of world food trade is crucial. One of the main factors contributing to the economic success of developing countries is their access to international markets. Tade integration, efficient global food trade is necessary for sustainable development. The technological efficiency of agricultural production, and the features of international agri-food trade can be analysed by various multivariate econometric methods. The analysis of the trends of production quantities, export volumes, market prices and market integration may reveal the main factors that basically influence the position of developing countries in the global economy, its changing patterns, and global competitiveness.
