Description of the research topic:
The profound decline in pollinating insect populations has emerged as a pressing concern recently, representing a significant issue from both ecological and agronomic perspectives. The first aim of the present work is to investigate the detrimental effects of widely used pesticides in agriculture on the metabolism, redox homeostasis, and stress response in various tissues of honeybees. Beyond the above mentioned examinations, the second phase of the work would focus on finding and researching bioactive substances of natural origin that could potentially be applied as feed supplements to mitigate the aforementioned negative effects and protect honey bee colonies.
