Description of the research topic:
Most of what we know about early modern women is very fragmentary and sporadic, with few sources available except for a few prominent female figures. One reason for this is that the female image and the role of women that were valid the period did not primarily define their place in written culture. The texts by women or that can be linked to them that survive from this period should therefore be supplemented by other elements of material culture, above all, their donations. The pedagogical, artistic and women’s history, ethnographic, literary and cultural studies aspects of the subject allow for different approaches.
