Description of the research topic:

Maternal and child health is a major public health issue, particularly in developing countries. Complications related to pregnancy and childbirth claimed the lives of about 287,000 women worldwide in 2020, with the majority of deaths occurring in low- and lower-middle-income countries. However, the magnitude and causes of mortality and morbidity rates vary widely between and within countries and among different socioeconomic groups, posing a significant challenge to policies and programs aimed at improving maternal and child health. To ensure adequate access to quality maternity care, it is necessary to identify and address the inequalities that affect health outcomes. Therefore, this research aims to determine the prevalence of selected maternal health indicators and associated factors, and to explore the trends and levels of inequality at the national and sub-national levels using nationally representative samples in developing countries.
