Description of the research topic:

The relationship between phenotypes and biomarker patterns in acute and chronic respiratory diseases to disease course and therapy efficacy is not yet fully understood. During the development of this topic, we are looking for answers to these questions, with special regard to eosinophil cells, complement system and immune phenotypes in chronic respiratory diseases and lung cancer. We plan to investigate different groups of pulmonary diseases (asthma, COPD, CF, ILD, lung cancer, respiratory infections) partly by data analysis of the medical system and partly by examining various biomarkers, including new biomarker candidate molecules. Within the framework of the PhD topic, it is possible to join international projects dealing with lung cancer screening and chronic respiratory diseases.
