Description of the research topic:
The primary purpose of health promotion is to improve the health of people in such a way that the individual is gaining control over his or her own health. To reach this adequate health literacy, which determines the health and health behaviour, is essential.
Health literacy is determined by many factors, including the socio-economic status of the individual. The health status of the disadvantaged population groups is worse, so it would be necessary to develop effective health promotion interventions to improve them. However, the basic condition for this is the characterization and improvement of the health literacy of this population.
The primary aim of this PhD research is to assess the health literacy of the population, investigate its determinants, and develop evidence-based intervention to improve it.
