Description of the research topic:
Climate change due to increasing emissions and growing energy demand are considered as major global challenges of our days. Wind and solar energy have increasing share of global electricity consumption, but despite their environmental benefits and decreasing costs, the periodical availability make storage necessary, which will be the key issue for future energy systems. The aim of the research is to assess the socio-economic impacts of different technological options, particularly power-to-gas (PtG), which can be combined with carbon capture and storage. The results of the research could be very useful for the actors and decision-makers in the energy sector and in the waste management sector.
