Description of the research topic:
In a complex manufacturing process, several machines interact with products. Collecting data on products and machines requires special consideration. Valuable data can only be generated if the right software environment is available. One such environment is the ERP system, which can manage some of the functions of MES systems in an integrated way. This requires the establishment of communication between each machine or group of machines and the ERP system. Based on this communication channel, the data must be received and stored in the integrated database of the ERP. The structure of the database should be extended, if necessary, to also receive data from previously unspecified data sources. Last phase is the support and design of automation using artificial intelligence models.
The aim of the PhD is to develop background models that give us solutions for the gap between current level of automation and full automation. The other main part of the work, next to the improvement of the automatization, to create software make decisions which are more developed than the traditional decision tree solutions. This requires the use of artificial intelligence models.
Current devices: Fischertechnik Training Factory Industry 4.0.
