Description of the research topic:

The Green Agreement makes the redesign of the food system an important priority, as the current system leads to a number of negative environmental and health impacts. The F2F strategy aims to reduce the use of pesticides, treat excess nutrients and antimicrobial resistance, and boost organic farming in the EU. However, all of this poses a number of challenges for the agricultural sector from an economic point of view, as the aim is to ensure the profitability of farmers and the safe supply of food to consumers. The common area of the European agricultural and climate policy is to increase the share of organic farming and reduce food waste. At the same time, short supply chains are also important in making food supply chains sustainable, being a preferred channel for organic food production and helping to reduce the information asymmetry between producer and consumer. An important question is how much consumers take into consideration in their purchasing decisions if they have more information on the environmental and social impact of food and are willing to make financial contributions.
