Description of the research topic:
In the course of their work, PhD students will investigate how the two main routes to the lysosome interact with each other and what common actors they have in common. In addition, they will search for and characterise new players not yet known in the two pathways. For this purpose, they will mainly use Drosophila models: endosome maturation in larval nephrocytes and autophagosome and amphiphysosome maturation in adipose tissue. Possible new molecular interactions will be tested in fruit fly S2 cell lines.
