Description of the research topic:

Software systems are embedded in their environment, together with other software systems. The software perceives the current state of the environment and makes decisions which action to perform. The more complex the environment, the more difficult to predict the behaviour of the environment, and more difficult for the software to decide which reactive or proactive action to perform. Environments are complex, not only because of the complexity of their structure, but also because of the delayed changes in response to the actions of the software. The relevant information can be extracted from the environment with data science methods. New theories, models, methods and strategies are needed to make such complex adaptive systems more reliable.

The concrete topics and tasks are defined together with the applicant.
