András Jung
High resolution remote sensing and field spectroscopy

THESIS TOPIC PROPOSAL

Institute: Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest
computer sciences
Doctoral School of Informatics

Thesis supervisor: András Jung
Location of studies (in Hungarian): ELTE Informatikai Kar
Abbreviation of location of studies: ELTE

Description of the research topic:

The research topic aims to equip the PhD student with the skills to conduct research or development

work in the field of optical and spectral data collection, both imaging and non-imaging, using high-

resolution remote sensing fundamentals, tools, and methods. The student will apply and develop

multispectral and hyperspectral measurement and analysis techniques while considering the various

platforms available (such as handheld, mobile, drone, airborne, underwater, etc.). The student will

gain expertise in the theoretical and practical aspects of field spectroscopy, including its role in

ground-based and satellite remote sensing. Furthermore, the student will acquire a comprehensive

understanding of the multidisciplinary context and the toolsets used in high-resolution active and

passive remote sensing. By delving deeply into the research topic, the PhD student will be capable of

carefully selecting, developing and applying terrestrial remote sensing technologies and methods, as

well as presenting their scientific results independently.

Required language skills: angol
Recommended language skills (in Hungarian): magyar
Further requirements:
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to work independently or collaboratively. They should have expertise in spatial data analysis and possess the theoretical and practical knowledge to develop and apply spatial models, algorithms

Number of students who can be accepted: 2
