Description of the research topic:
Muography is a novel method using particle detectors for measuring the differential flux of cosmic muons, to reveal the inner structure of large objects. This technology can be used to reconstruct the density image of geological targets with fine resolution in 3d over the entire volume. The candidate will get involved in particle detectors, muographic imaging, mathematical modelling, and applications in geosciences. He/She shall work on the solution of the direct problem, detector-level effects, rock-structure effects and related uncertainties, as well as decelopment of the inversion methods and applications.
