Description of the research topic:
The aim of the dissertation is to analyse the short-term fluctuations of the energy market and the long-term effects of carbon neutrality on the sugar industry as one of the most energy-intensive segments of the food industry, and analyse it's adaptability. Following the end of the sugar regime in 2016, the sector is going through a process of transformation that has been going on ever since. The changes in the energy market therefore nevertheless pose another challenge to a structure that is undergoing a major transformation. The impact will also indirectly affect sugar producers, as rising energy costs will increase the cost of producing raw materials, in this case sugar beet, further exacerbating competition from alternative crops.
