Description of the research topic:
The doctorand will be integrated in the experimental research activity of the Quantum Optics Group of the Wigner Research Centre for Physics. The group aims at the implementation of atomic quantum technologies for quantum sensing and for quantum communication. The thesis work consists in the operation and gradual development of a running cold atom cavity QED setup. The objective is the realization of non-linear optical schemes to manipulate the internal and external degrees of freedom of laser cooled atoms under the effect of illumination by multiple tunable laser sources. Such is the electromagnetically-induced cavity transparency and the efficient grey-molasses laser cooling method. The proposed research requires substantial theoretical work in the field of quantum optics, in particular, the description of open quantum systems.
