Description of the research topic:

Pharmacogenomics is a discipline of precision medicine that can be used to maximise the effectiveness of drug treatment while minimising the risk of toxicity by distinguishing drug responders from non-responders based on an individual's genetic make-up. With the increasing availability of drugs comes an increased risk of complications due to genetic causes.
The aim of our research programme is to investigate drug-taking habits and the most common pharmacogenomic polymorphisms in sample populations representative of the Hungarian population. In addition, the identified gene polymorphisms will be used to propose the identification of at-risk populations and possible targeted health programmes.
