Abbreviation of location of studies: SzKK

Description of the research topic:

The purpose of the research is to develop and pharmacologically validate novel test batteries to measure behavioral correlates of higher order neuropsychological processes and their pathologies (neurocognitive disorders, impulsivity, anxiety, depression, etc.) in a unique translational research environment from rats through non-human primates to human subjects. We aim to establish the underlying electrophysiological (EEG) correlates and develop reliable disease models in animals. Finally, preclinical investigations will be carried out on the validated test batteries using novel therapeutic agents. Technical background: rodent and primate phenotyping, complex operant behavioral paradigms, reversible inactivation using pharmacological agents and the DREADD chemogenetic technology, in vivo cellular electrophysiology, EEG, cognitive test batteries.
