Physiological effect and molecular mechanism of biostimulants in improving plant stress responses

THESIS TOPIC PROPOSAL

Location of studies (in Hungarian): HUN-REN Biological Research Centre, Szeged, Institute of Plant Biology
Abbreviation of location of studies: SZBK

Description of the research topic:

The use of different bacteria or algae to promote plant growth is a dynamically developing field that is being researched more intensively. Either individually or in combination, they can influence plant development and stress resistance through root growth. Although more and more is known about the physiological effects of biostimulants on plants, their molecular mechanisms are less understood. Our goal is to characterize genes and signaling pathways in model and crop plants that are activated by biostimulants and induce enhanced drought and/or salt tolerance.
