Description of the research topic:

Body weight and body measurements are important economic traits in beef cattle sector and can be used as selection factors. The aim of this PhD’ study is the characterization of body measurement parameters of Limousin young bulls and heifers analyses in Hungarian nucleus farms from 2021-to 2025 years. Body measurements (withers height, tail height, width at shoulders, back length, width at hip bones, pin width) of Limousine young bulls and heifers will be taken with standardized equipment under appropriate conditions. Statistical analysis will be made by SPSS 24.0. Normal distribution of data is used by Shaphiro-Wilks test. The GLM model will be focused on the intercept, the effect of herds, years, technician and covariant factors (age or live weight). Factors influencing body length of Limousins heifers are also analysed in this research by CHAID (Chi-squared Automatic Interaction Detector) method. Heretability values of the most important body measures is also calculated by Animal Model. The expected results will be used for the further development of breeding work in practice.
