Description of the research topic:

The changing social, political, economical and technical circumstances in modern societies of the 21st century entail the constant necessity of thinking over the issues of legal theory and the philosophical issues of legal reasoning. Recent legislative efforts in Hungary (e. g. adopting the relatively new criminal and civil code, then putting into effect the new codes of criminal and civil procedure) prove that law must keep pace with changing circumstances. However, law’s reaction to new cases cannot happen in an ad hoc, irrational way, it only can be realized in the light of rational justification and in a principled way. This requires the examination and unfolding deep philosophical questions of law and legal reasoning. During the research I can give assistance in analyzing the philosophical foundations of law and legal reasoning which can contribute to providing coherent and rational answers to new cases which were raised by the changing world.
