Description of the research topic:

The study of the effects of climate change began in the 1990s, but at that time it meant the analysis of environmental effects rather than the study of the effects on human health. Nowadays, many health effects have become known, which can be associated with certain aspects of climate change, such as extreme weather and temperature changes, thinning of the ozone layer, changes in the pollen distribution characteristics of allergenic plants, or even the development of the habitat of vectors involved in the transmission of infectious diseases. As a result, death related to heat/drought/flooding, the occurrence of melanoma, dermatosis, keratitis and conjunctivitis, the frequency of circulatory and respiratory diseases (e.g. COPD, asthma, allergies), the occurrence of enteric diseases, and the occurrence of vector borne infectious diseases have increased. The indirect effects of climate change-related environmental and economic changes also include the impact on mental health (eco anxiety).
