Description of the research topic:

Acute brain injury gives rise to the spontaneous occurrence of spreading depolarization
events, which contribute to the expansion of the lesion, and worsen injury outcome. The aim
of the project is to explore mechanisms of the initiation and propagation of spreading
depolarization in live brain slice preparations, and to identify pharmacological targets to
inhibit spreading depolarization.
