Description of the research topic:

Because of their environmental and health impact, the detection and identification of microplastics has received increasing attention in recent years. Although the accumulation of such particles in tissues has been demonstrated, little is known about the size and material of the microplastics that are able to enter cells. The aim of this PhD thesis is to adapt the stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) method to identify different microplastics and to study their infiltration into cells as a function of size and material composition.
