Examining the role of APRN in Hungarian and international context
"While on an international level, the APRN has been part of healthcare for more than 40 years as a level of nursing, has a strong research background and literature, mainly in Anglo-Saxon countries, even in Europe, but in Hungary the State Secretariat for Healthcare decided in 2016 on supporting a new education programme. Research and literature on the Hungarian aspect of the newly introduced education and competence are still completely lacking, due to the short time interval that has passed since then.
It will be an exciting and useful research task to monitor the adaptation of a new role of nurse in the Hungarian healthcare structure and to compare it with decades of foreign experience and research results. In light of international comparisons, this research cannot be self-serving in any case. An important aspect is also to measure how the APRN, an independent role in nursing which forms a transition between nurses’ and physicians’ roles, can be accepted by physicians and what collaboration can gradually develop between these two professions for patient care.
The catching up to the role of a foreign nurse has already taken place with the adaptation of the role in Hungary, but the establishment of a research base on evidence-based APRN is also missing in order to measure our results, compare them with foreign trends, and possibly change them."
