Description of the research topic:

During the management of acute surgical patients, it is crucial to promptly identify both known and often newly revealed comorbidities, which can significantly affect the patient's tolerance to stress and the chosen treatment strategy. Investigating the negative impact of comorbidities related to various organ systems on the course of the disease may enhance the effectiveness of treatment. In addition to the most common internal medicine-related comorbidities (such as cardiovascular diseases, vascular problems, pulmonary and metabolic diseases), we consider the examination of neurological disorders, which may seem less significant in everyday practice, to be important.
