Description of the research topic:
Sport management in the XXIth century
Engaging in sports has become a profession, just as sports science has evolved into an independent branch of social sciences! However, in Hungary, sports leaders, sports managers, and genuinely knowledgeable professionals in sports are still not fully accepted as partners. The domestic politics and economic elite do not recognize being a sports leader as an independent profession, one that not everyone can understand or practice without expertise. Doing so without proper knowledge is not only a mistake but also a crime! We can find numerous examples of this both before and after the regime change in 1990, as well as in contemporary times.
• In doctoral schools, the comprehensive topic "Sport Management in the 21st Century" could provide an opportunity for young professionals engaged in practical sports to prove through research and data that being a sports leader is a genuine, independent profession. Engaging in sports requires serious knowledge, experience, and practical skills.
The topic is extremely complex and vast, so it must be broken down into subtopics, with various possibilities:
• the creation and operation of sports facilities,
• the role of sports leaders and managers,
• the role of athletes in the modern world,
• examining and defining the societal place and role of sports as a tool,
• and so on.
