Description of the research topic:

Neurodegenerative diseases affect a large percentage of the population. Pathological musculoskeletal changes resulting from neurological disorders cause severe, long-lasting pain syndromes, physical and psychological disabilities, affecting hundreds of millions of people worldwide. There is a close association between inactivity and several civilization-related diseases, including cardiovascular diseases related to obesity, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes. One of the most common complications of the latter is peripheral neuropathy, which leads to decreased mobility. In the case of prolonged illness, neuropathy affects nearly 50% of patients suffering from the disease.
Previous research has shown that various physical activities positively influence some factors that contribute to diabetes complications (HbA1c, BMI, fasting blood sugar levels, etc.). However, further research is suggested to examine the effects of physical activity on molecular biological processes and biomechanical parameters in neuropathic patients. It is also important to investigate how changes in functional abilities correlate with changes in various biochemical markers associated with the disease.
Research findings can highlight correlations that, when utilized in clinical practice, can make adjunctive treatment of the disease more effective in reducing patients' pain and alleviating symptoms.
