Description of the research topic:

Sport is one of the most rapidly growing sectors of the entertainment industry, and as such, sports and its infrastructure have become an integral part of our daily lives. Its narrow economic effects have already been recognized at the European level, giving rise to a positional advantage. In our country, this began over the past decade, as previously, the focus was mainly on researching the social impact mechanisms. In light of this, it is important to thoroughly examine the micro- and macroeconomic environment of the sports economy, as through its multiplicative mechanisms, it contributes to the development of numerous factors (e.g., job creation, income, etc.).

During the exploration of the topic, there will be an economic analysis of the micro and macroeconomic impacts of the sports economy, as well as an examination of public opinion on competition and the characteristics of implicit attitudes towards competition.

- How do various formal and informal institutions influence the growth of the sports economy?
- How do certain sub-elements within formal institutions (political institutions, economic freedom, civil liberties) affect the sports economy and its competitiveness through what channels?
- How does the role of these institutions change during the development of the sports economy?
- How can the impact of institutions be measured and demonstrated (e.g., through cross-country analyses)?

Doctoral students choosing this research topic will acquire in-depth knowledge of indicators of quality of life, the most commonly used statistical methods for empirical data processing, and computer software packages. They will also have the opportunity to participate in their supervisors' research projects.
