Description of the research topic:

In recent decades, we have become increasingly aware of the environmental changes that threaten our lives and health. As a result, the role of green spaces is becoming increasingly important. Historic gardens have a major role to play in preserving both the garden heritage and the quality of green spaces, and through them in creating a liveable environment. As each historic garden has its own unique value and development potential, different garden traditions in China and Europe (in addition to similarities in heritage conservation and development directions) may lead to specific garden renovation methods and priorities. The aim of this research is to compare the renewal, development and maintenance efforts and methods of European (including Hungarian) and Chinese historic gardens and to identify new and forward-looking strategies based on professional foundations for the future.
