A 18–19. század fordulójának történelemszemléletét gyakran a historizmus korának tartják. A kérdés az, hogy milyen történeti narratívákat épít fel a historizmus egy nemzeti identitás megalkotásához, a korábbi narratívákat miként gondolja vagy gondoltatja újra.
