Description of the research topic:

Early modern public theatre and cheap print are based on the continuous two-way traffic and interaction of elite and popular cultures in the 16th and 17th centuries. Investigating such phenomena and their relation to the specific cultural context offers ample opportunities for future academic research, made possible by recent databases like Early English Books Online, Lost Plays Database, etc. The candidate is free to choose the primary materials and focal points of his/her research within this wider field
