Description of the research topic:
It is rewarding to examine the work of English, Irish and American representatives of the Theatre of the Absurd not only from a literary historical, but also from a philosophical perspective. The absurd vision is rooted in the philosophies of existentialism. Moreover, posthumanist thought is playing an increasingly important role in the reinterpretation of the writings of these authors. Such an interdisciplinary approach may be extended to include British and American dramatists whose vision of the world can be connected to the absurd, to postmodernism and/or posthumanism.
