Description of the research topic:

In the field of research of the reception of old and modern literature in Hungary, we investigate how a literary work arrives in the target culture, what changes of meaning it undergoes in the process, and what is the role of the cultural mediators. The approach uses a wide variety of sources from, among other things, cultural intermediaries - translators, publishers, critics, theatre and film directors, etc. -, to analyse critiques of literary translation, critiques of the work in the target country, various adaptations (film, theatre, comics, youth reworking), etc. Various methodological approaches may play a role in the research, such as Pierre Bourdieu's field theory and Itamar's Even-Zohar literary polysystem or Linda Hutcheon's adaptation theory.
