Abbreviation of location of studies: DSME

Description of the research topic:

The wide scale application of the UAV/UAS techniques used both in the state and the private sectors predicts and requires a new concept of the automatic flight control systems ensuring new capabilities for the UAVs. Beyond traditional autopilot functions of the UAVs there are several challenging tasks for automation of the emergency flight regimes like RtH, emergency landing; meanwhile to ensure some new robot behaviours and algorithms flying on special fligth paths improving overall level of the fligth safety of the UAV.
Research objectives:
Analysis of the exsisting UAV autopilots both from the technical and thorough scientific aspects. Leaning on the conclusions drawned from the scientific review, moreover, the acting UAV regulations the main goal is to design usable concept and a prototype of the post-modern UAV flight management system ensuring both normal and emergency control of the UAV spatial motion, maximizing its effectivenes and flight safety overall level.
New scientific result to be achieved:
The new scientific result expected is a highly sophisticated and enhanced automatic flight control system (flight management system) of the UAV able to control its motion in complex flight scenarios like extreme meteorological conditions, terrain-following at very law altitudes, and emergency landing.
