Possible topics include: social epistemology and the nature of political knowledge and competence; justification of political beliefs; feminist and critical epistemology (e.g., Fricker, Medina); epistemic justice and discrimination; the epistemology and political philosophy of epistocracy and democracy (e.g., Brennan, Cohen, Landemore, Peter); the role of expertise in politics; critiques of technocracy (e.g., Habermas, Mouffe); epistemic division of labor in democracies: democratic representation and (un)informed electorates (e.g., Beerbohm, Thompson); political deliberation and polarization (e.g., Fishkin, Sunstein); democratizing academic inquiry; the epistemology and political philosophy of conspiracy theories (e.g., Coady, Räikkä, Cassam); applied ethics, especially concerning new and emerging technologies and democracy (e.g., philosophical issues in the regulation of social media or deepfake technology).
