Description of the research topic:
The ontology of law; the debate on legal positivism – morality and the law – (e.g., Dworkin, Hart, Raz), natural law and positive law; the authority of law; theoretical issues in legal interpretation; general theories of individual rights (interest-, will-, and status-based as well as pluralist theories); general theories of human rights: moral (Tasioulas) and political grounds (Rawls, Beitz); theories of constitutional law (K. Möller, J. Weinrib); theories of private law (Neo-Kantianism [E. Weinrib, Ripstein], law & economics [Posner, Calabresi], self-determination [Dagan]); private law and social justice; special jurisprudence, theories of specific individual rights, esp. (but not exclusively) freedom of speech / expression, privacy, property; classical liberal and libertarian theories of individual rights, their (Neo)Marxist and (Neo)Conservative critiques.
