Description of the research topic:
The algorithm-based, personalized media environment, eliminating traditional gatekeeper roles, has changed many elements of how media and the public operate, from media market business models to political communication and media consumption models to the relationship between journalists and audiences. The media system dominated by global media monopolies has not only brought to the surface or amplified phenomena such as hate speech, disinformation and information bubbles. This media system strengthened civil journalism, created a platform for a culture of donation (crowdfunding), and brought governance-oriented cooperative regulation to the fore. Related research focuses on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary processing of the phenomena of algorithm-driven publicity.
