Description of the research topic:
THis theme is offered to reflect ont he lack of theorising ont he loccal level since the birth of political philosophy ont he state leveli n the early modern period. Most of the political decisions are still made ont he local level. Therefore it might be of the utmost relevance to see how the existing decision making practices can be theoretically reconstructed. Authors of relevance include Aristotle, ALthusius, Rousseau, Justus Möser, Tocqueville, etc. Of the research topics one can mention the models of urban self-governance, the elationship of city and state, urban elites, the city and its surroundings, cooperation and competition among cities.
