Description of the research topic:

Since the human sciences are under attack worldwide, there is a renewed scholarly interest in their history and their scientific self-perception. One can choose the oeuvre of authors like Humboldt, Dilthey, Gadamer, Kuhn, Allan Bloom and Martha Nussbaum. Possible research topics inculde the problem of two scuences, the relationship of science and art, the politics of the human sciences, the historical transformation of the role of the intellectual, etc.
