Description of the research topic:

The judgement of myocardial viability using contrast aided cardiac MRI is known to be a gold standard method since a decade. 3D Scar mapping is a new diagnostic tool to study patients after myocardial infartion. Furthermore high resolution MRI contrast aided scar cardiac MRI mapping is capable to differentiate scar and healthy tissue even in thin (2 mm) cardiac muscle.
The development of heart failure due to left ventricular aneurysm is a serious complication after myocardial infarction. Surgical repair is necessary to treat these patients. The success rate of the sugery can be improved while to perform 3D viability map of the left ventricle.
