Description of the research topic:

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is one of the most common clinical manifestations of atherosclerosis. The rate of undiscovered or late-diagnosed PAD is very high. Its reasons originate partially from the deficiencies in our health care system, partially from masked PAD. The aim of our study is to survey the incidence of PAD in high and very high risk populations, to examine the correlation between various non-invasive diagnostic tests and compare the hemodynamic and hemorheologic variables of the peripheral circulation. We investigate the hemodynamic and hemorheologic parameters as prognostic factors in patients with critical limb ischaemia.
