Description of the research topic:

The binding of a pharmacologically active compound to serum or plasma proteins play a crucial role in the transport of pharmacologically active molecules in the human circulation. The reversible binding to these plasma proteins could have a potential impact on drugs disposition and efficacy. Thus, understanding the molecular interactions between these proteins and their ligands are necessary for the research focusing on the transport of drugs via the blood to sites of action throughout the body. Such weak molecular interactions are reversible, show a competitive property, and affected by the properties of the environment. In this study, the dominant processes influencing the interactions between pharmacologically active molecules and various proteins potentially involved in the transport process (e.g. serum albumin) are identified and quantitatively described, and the molecular background processes of weak interactions are investigated.
