Description of the research topic:

): Old Turkic runiform inscriptions are of particular importance for the history of Turkic languages, as they are the earliest texts written in a Turkic language. As well as the philological examination of the texts, Turcological research has tried to explore the origins of Turkic runiform script, but the various hypotheses have not yet provided a satisfactory solution to this question. As runiform writing survived for centuries in a variety of cultural contexts, the cultural history of its relics is much more important than research has so far taken into account. Research on the subject therefore may cover several areas, such as the history of Turkic runic writing (its development, variants and use) and the study of its philological, orthographic and cultural historical aspects.
