Description of the research topic:

SzV-1287 (3-(4,5-diphenyl-1,3-oxazol-2-yl)propanal oxime) is a novel multi-target drug candidate successfully completed Phase Ia clinical testing for neuropathic pain. It is patented and currently developed by our research group at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, University of Pécs Medical School, Pécs, Hungary (PCT P1400205).
SzV-1287 irreversibly inhibits the copper-containing enzyme amine oxidase 3 (AOC3), a member of the semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase enzyme family. Given the high expression of AOC3 enzyme in the lung and the rich airway innervation of TRPA1-expressing sensory afferents, as well as literature data, that AOC3 inhibition might be effective in airway inflammation, it is interesting to investigate our novel analgesic drug candidate in models of inflammatory lung diseases.
Therefore, our aim is to investigate the effect of SzV-1287 with complex integrative approach to provide proof of concept for the anti-inflammatory effect in lung in distinct mouse models of airway inflammation: 1) the endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide: LPS)-induced acute interstitial pneumonitis; 2) chronic allergic model of ovalbumin-induced asthma; 3) bleomycin-induced fibrosis model.
